Why Thalaiva was Better than Jilla & Arrambam Better than Veeram

ATMUS Entertainment one of the trustable sources in the industry which provides the overseas box office reports came up with an intresting report on the two Pongal biggies Veeram and Jilla. ATMUS Entertainment firstly revealed the total gross of Jilla and Veeram in the U.S Box Office as of Tuesday 21st January which was

• Jilla $240381 
• Veeram $228055

They also came up with an another intresting report that these overall collection of Jilla and Veeram were actually less than Thala Thalapathy's previous release in Arrambam and Thalaivaa. 

Jilla had grossed $30K less than Thalaivaa while Ajith's Veeram had grossed $140K less than Arrambam. They went on add that both Jilla and Veeram would have grossed over $300K if released separately and the USA market couldn't handle two biggies at the sametime.

Thala's Pongal treat Veeram which currently stands at 15th Position is the only movie from Indian Cinema to currently hold a strong foothold at the Box office. Sources add the movie collected 84,509 $ at the Australian box office but the makers have released the film with just seven prints. Thala Ajith's fan base in Australia is indeed fast spreading considering the box office success of Arrambam and now Veeram.

Thala's Veeram Wanted in Bollywood

Thala Ajith's Veeram has set the box office on fire, The movie has already amassed record collections in Chennai Box Office for the opening weekend with Rs 3,04,23,392 which was very close to the collection of Kamal Haasan's Magnum Opus Vishwaroopam which was Rs 3,06,40,10. 

The Director of this blockbuster Siva credited Ajith, the movie's script and his Producer for the movie's success and revealed that he has been flooded with offers to do a Bollywood remake of Veeram. Siva also added that two Bollywood stars have also shown interest and with certain modifications in nativity it would work.

• Jilla opened in 71 screens and grossed 180,000 USD  from 61 reported screens.
• Veeram opened in 69 screens has grossed 190,000 USD from 65 reported screens.

In Malaysia 

• Jilla opened at Number 2 in Malaysian Box Office and was released in 69 screens. 
• Veeram opened in 62 screens and debuted at Number 3 in Top 10 chart.

The makers of Jilla along with Ilayathalapathy Vijay held a press meet today to celebrate the success of Jilla. Ilayathalapathy Vijay who spoke at the event had this say on Thala's Veeram 

"I heard good reports about Veeram and I wish to congratulate Ajith, Tamanna, director Siva and the producers and the whole. This Pongal has been very healthy and feels nice. A few years back, there used to be 4 to 5 releases for festivals but for the last two years, i have heard that it's possible to release to only one movie but this Pongal feels very nice. Records Smashed by Veeram & Jilla

Kollywood witnessed an epic opening clash between the two Kings of Kollywood Thala Thalapathy. The theatres around Tamil Nadu witnessed an early Pongal with celebrations from both the actor's camp reigning in. Both the movies Jilla and Veeram have been declared blockbusters.

Thala Ajith once again justified the King of Opening tag as Veeram had 50+ House full shows in Mayajaal on January 10th alone. 

Whereas Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Mohanlal created history in Kerala by opening to a record 200 plus screens. This is an all time record for any film.
