Is it Deepika Padukone for Vijay ?

There is currently a hot buzz going around about Vijay 58 with Chimbu Devan. The makers of this big budgeted fantasy film have reportedly approached the Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone to be the leading lady of the film. So far Deepika has just been part of one south Indian project in Superstar's Kochdaiyaan. 
Vijay 58 will be produced by Thameens and P.T.Selvakumar the long time P.R.O of Vijay. There was a early buzz which linked up the other leading lady of Bollywood Priyanka Chopra to the same project.

When Director Vikraman was shooting for his film Poove Unakkaga back in the year 1995 he had apparently predicted that his hero Vijay would one day rise to become a mass hero. The Director was quoted saying that no one had apparently believed him then.
The director who is currently gearing up for his next release Ninaithadhu Yaaro has yet again predicted that his lead actors of the film, Newbies Rejith and Nimisha will always go on to reach great heights in Kollywood. Let's see if Vikraman's predictions are spot on again ?

3 Films for Vijay in 2014

2014 has began with a huge bang for Ilayathalapathy Vijay thanks to the grand success of Jilla. The actor is all set to follow up this success with the upcoming A.R.Murugadoss project tentatively titled VALL(Sword). The film marks the official reunion of the Thuppakki duo.
After ARM project Vijay is reported to move on to the film directed by Chimbu Devan and produced by his P.R.O and longtime manager P.T.Selvakumar and Thameens. The movie is reported to be a fantasy movie filled with the expected commercial aspects and expected to commence from September.
Sources add Ilayathalapathy's project with Raja Rani director Atlee is also very much on the cards and the young director is working on the script. Vijay has also expressed his interest to work with Director Suseenthiran and has also asked him to draft a script for him. Vijay might either start Atlee project or the Suseenthiran film from December.
 The star has reportedly given the nod to work with Director cum Producer Sasikumar in the year 2015.

Why Thalaiva was Better than Jilla & Arrambam Better than Veeram

ATMUS Entertainment one of the trustable sources in the industry which provides the overseas box office reports came up with an intresting report on the two Pongal biggies Veeram and Jilla. ATMUS Entertainment firstly revealed the total gross of Jilla and Veeram in the U.S Box Office as of Tuesday 21st January which was

  • Jilla $240381 
  • Veeram $228055

They also came up with an another intresting report that these overall collection of Jilla and Veeram were actually less than Thala Thalapathy's previous release in Arrambam and Thalaivaa. 

Jilla had grossed $30K less than Thalaivaa while Ajith's Veeram had grossed $140K less than Arrambam. They went on add that both Jilla and Veeram would have grossed over $300K if released separately and the USA market couldn't handle two biggies at the sametime.

    Ilayathalapathy Vijay held a Q&A with his fans yesterday through his official twitter handle. The conversation was however marked by a wrong controversy and it went viral all over the social media.

    Vijay Next Only to Superstar !

    Ilayathalapathy Jilla is absolutely ruling the UK Box Office, The film's first 3 Day Gross collection has smashed Vijay's previous best set by Thuppakki. Jilla's first three days gross collection were 152,552£ (1.54 crores) whereas Thuppakki weekend collection was just 134,280 £.
    With such record breaking collection, Vijay's Jilla's is now only number 3 to Superstar's Endhiran and Sivaji in UK Box Office.

    • Endhiran -  277,918 £ ( 43 screens)
    • Sivaji      - 168,603 £  ( 12 screens)
    • Jilla        - 152,552 £   ( 43 screens)

    Ilayathalapathy's Jilla is also the only film to cross the 150 K £  at UK box office after Sivaji and Endhiran making Vijay only next to Superstar in UK Box Office.

    Overseas Collection Report of Jilla & Veeram

    Fans here is Overseas Collection Report of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Jilla and Thala Ajith's Veeram

    In United States
    • Jilla opened in 71 screens and grossed 180,000 USD  from 61 reported screens.
    • Veeram opened in 69 screens has grossed 190,000 USD from 65 reported screens.
    In Malaysia 
    • Jilla opened at Number 2 in Malaysian Box Office and was released in 69 screens. 
    • Veeram opened in 62 screens and debuted at Number 3 in Top 10 chart.
    • Taran Adarsh tweeted this on the box office collection of Jilla & Veeram

    In Australia

    • Veeram was the only indian movie this week to make it to the Australian Box Office by Opening at Number 15 grossing 61,811 Australian dollars (around 34.3 lakhs). 
    • Jilla didn't find a place in the Top 20 and its weekend figures are awaited.

    The makers of Jilla along with Ilayathalapathy Vijay held a press meet today to celebrate the success of Jilla. Ilayathalapathy Vijay who spoke at the event had this say on Thala's Veeram 

    "I heard good reports about Veeram and I wish to congratulate Ajith, Tamanna, director Siva and the producers and the whole. This Pongal has been very healthy and feels nice. A few years back, there used to be 4 to 5 releases for festivals but for the last two years, i have heard that it's possible to release to only one movie but this Pongal feels very nice. I thank everyone."

    Producer Attacked in Jilla Movie Case Issue !

    Producer Mahendran who filed a petition yesterday in court to stay the release of Jilla has been attacked by a group in Chennai. The Producer who alleged that the title belonged to him has been admitted in Surya Hospital in Chennai with severe injuries on the face.

    While it is unclear as to who attacked the Mahendran, it is to be noted that he had filed a petition against the release of Vijay starrer Jilla since he has the rights of a Tamil dubbed Telugu film starring Ravi Teja in the lead which he has titled it as Jilla.

    Records Smashed by Veeram & Jilla

    Kollywood witnessed an epic opening clash between the two Kings of Kollywood Thala Thalapathy. The theatres around Tamil Nadu witnessed an early Pongal with celebrations from both the actor's camp reigning in. Both the movies Jilla and Veeram have been declared blockbusters.
    Thala Ajith once again justified the King of Opening tag as Veeram had 50+ House full shows in Mayajaal on January 10th alone. 
    Whereas Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Mohanlal created history in Kerala by opening to a record 200 plus screens. This is an all time record for any film.

    Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Jilla has been received with open arms  by the numerous fans, The movie is well on its way to to be huge blockbuster. However the latest report on the movie is that the length of the film has been reduced by 10 minutes.
    The Cut version of the movie will be screened in theatres from tonight. Jilla stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Complete actor Mohanlal along with Kajal Agarwal and many others. BGM's by D.Imman deserve special mention.

    Super, super, super, Superstar Vijay - Shreya Ghoshal

    Shreya Ghoshal one of the greatest singer from our Kollywood industry in a recent interview was all praises for Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Here is what she had to say on the chartbuster Kandaangi 

    “I always love working with Imman, because all his songs are real gems. Kandaangi is much more closer to my heart because firstly it's a gorgeous beautiful song, but also because of my co-singer someone who is very special who is our super, super, super, super, Superstar Vijay. I really did not know that Vijay anna will deliver the song so beautifully, It's a different chemistry and its a treat for all the fans of our Superstar out there. He has done complete justice to the song with his fabulous voice.”

    She, also said that she is very happy as she is the co-singer for Vijay’s first romantic song and concluded saying "Bless you Vijay Anna may you sing more songs and enthrall all your fans with not only with your acting but your songs too".



    A Producer Files a case to Ban Jilla

    It's almost become a part and parcel of Kollywood Today, With Every big release , there seems to be someone who conjures up a title issue and seeks a ban on the movie. A certain R Mahendran of Soumita Sri Arts has followed suit and has filed a case with Chennai's City Civil Court against the release of Vijay and Mohanlal's Jilla.
    R Mahendran claimed that he had dubbed a Telugu movie , Bhageeratha starring Prakash Raj and Shriya Saran and titled Jilla in Tamil. He added that he had also registered the Jilla title in 2008 with the Film and Television Producers Guild of South India and added he was very shocked to know from the newspapers that there a film with same title releasing on January 10th.
    Mahendran has requested the Court to issue a stay on the release of Jilla and the hearing for the same happened Today on 9th January 2014. However Post the hearing one of the Jilla's Producer Jiiva had this to say
